Background of the Study
Leadership plays a pivotal role in strategic management, influencing the formulation and implementation of organizational goals. Effective leadership fosters innovation, improves decision-making, and enhances organizational adaptability, especially in dynamic industries like banking (Yusuf & Bello, 2023).
In Sokoto State, the banking sector faces challenges such as intense competition, regulatory demands, and economic instability. Strategic leadership is critical for navigating these challenges and achieving sustainable growth. Research by Ibrahim and Musa (2024) emphasizes that leaders who align their vision with organizational objectives are more likely to achieve success. This study explores the role of leadership in driving strategic management practices in banks in Sokoto State.
